Discover the social life of St. Lawrence River belugas  Become a scientist for the duration of your visit to the Biodôme exhibition Window on Belugas. Try to decode the social behaviors of these St. Lawrence River marine mammals thanks to spectacular drone footage.  Courtesy of videos projected on a giant screen, admire the St. Lawrence Estuary and the fascinating social behaviors of the grey calf – the name given to young belugas, which take on a bluish-grey coloring starting around the age of one. During the first four years of their lives they learn to navigate with their maternal communities and to interact with other members of the group.  Thanks to a set design inspired by the Tadoussac area, in Charlevoix, explore the belugas’ complex social structure, discover the essential role played by the young in the community, and understand how their day-to-day lives are closely linked to the waters of the St. Lawrence River.  This scientific activity invites you to discover the marine mammals of the St. Lawrence Estuary and to understand the connections between their population and our own.  A research and awareness-raising project  Window on belugas is a research and awareness-raising project of the Group for Research and Education on Marine Mammals (GREMM). After decades spend studying this unique population, the advent of drones has revolutionized their scientific perspective. Interactions between individuals can now be seen and their roles and behaviors observed like never before.
