The Jardin botanique de Montréal has an exceptional penjing collection, including 300 specimens donated to it by the city of Shanghai to mark the Floralies internationales held here in 1980.
The collection has grown over the years to become one of the broadest and most complete outside of Asia.
Some of the specimens are over 100 years old!
You can admire some thirty of these miniature trees growing in containers in the Chinese Garden’s Springtime Courtyard.
Meet an expert and get an introduction to the unique, subtle art of maintaining them.
If you wish, create your own penjing! A fun way to learn about one of the most painstaking horticultural arts.
