The Way of Tea

This 45-minute presentation is an introduction to the Way of Tea, a highly codified ritual based on four principles — harmony, respect, purity and tranquillity.

Every effort is made to ensure guests feel welcome. Utensils are carefully chosen according to the season and the occasion.

In front of everyone, the host prepares a bowl of matcha (powdered green tea), which is then served with a sweet Japanese treat.

These demonstrations are provided by the Association of Chadô Urasenke Tankôkai in Montréal, and, in a rare opportunity, are accompanied by commentary to help you gain a better appreciation of this art form.

  • Cost: $7 with tasting (tea and sweet)
Payable in cash. The purchase of a Jardin botanique ticket is required.
  • Saturday 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
