It’s one of the best times of the year to look up at the night sky—the Perseid meteor shower is back! Come with family or friends to the Montréal Planétarium for a free evening of stargazing that blends science, nature and astronomy.
On August 11 and 12, meet in front of the Planétarium for a guided skywatching experience with telescopes, hosted by volunteers from the Société d’astronomie du Planétarium de Montréal (SAPM) and our team of science educators.
You can also stargaze with the naked eye from the grassy area in the Olympic Park, near the StarCité Montréal cinema. For your comfort, dress warmly and bring a blanket or mat to lie on.
Catch The origin of the Perseids, a 20-minute show presented in English in the Chaos Theatre and in French in the Milky Way Theatre. Shows run every 30 minutes on a first-come, first-served basis.
Science activities will be running throughout the evening in the main hall , giving you a chance to explore the wonders of the sky—even if clouds roll in.
This event is part of the Skywatch Gatherings at the Planétarium, a free series open to all. These fascinating evenings are a great way to explore the beauty of the night sky right in the heart of Montréal.
