In this rakugo performance, Cyril Coppini brings a cast of colourful characters to life through lively dialogue. Come see him on Saturday, May 30 in the Japanese Garden at Montréal’s Jardin botanique.
Seated in the traditional Japanese style on a cushion, with only a fan and a cloth as props, the storyteller introduces the ancient art of rakugo, which he learned in Japan, where he has lived for nearly 30 years. He performs in Japan and abroad, in French, English and Japanese. His talent will draw you into this popular art form, still very much alive today.
The event is presented in collaboration with Festilou – festival de contes pour la jeunesse. The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) supports Cyril Coppini’s visit, and the Fondation du Jardin et du Pavillon japonais funds his performance at the Japanese Pavilion.
