The aim of this exciting day, which coincides with the summer solstice, is to celebrate the pride and cultures of Indigenous peoples.

Join in the festivities during National Indigenous Peoples Day! This national day sets out to celebrate the rich contributions of Indigenous peoples over hundreds of years, including to our society today, and to recognize the ties of sharing and mutual aid between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

Activities

1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
First Nations Pavilion

Special animation at the First Nations Garden and tasting of annendda tea, symbol of the know-how of the First Peoples and of the supportive relationships between the nations.

2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Henry Teuscher Auditorium

Special Wapikoni Mobile program Screening of Wapikoni shorts selected by Indigenous curators, followed by a discussion led by an Indigenous ambassador and a guest artist filmmaker.

*Officially proclaimed in 1996, National Aboriginal Day is now known as National Indigenous Peoples Day. Canada’s recognized Indigenous peoples are the First Nations, Inuit and Métis.
