Located just outside the Biodôme is a green installation called the Félix's forest: a boreal misting station. This installation is ecological due to its intelligent energy management and water conservation. It is educational, being participatory and a way of raising awareness. And it is inspirational, evoking the boreal forest and creating a mini oasis of nature in the heart of the city.
With a view to countering heat islands and avoiding resource waste, Studio Dix au carré designed a refreshing misting system that is activated by human energy, offering an experience that is both educational and enjoyable. Their creation, Félix's forest: a boreal misting station, is a cool haven aimed at mitigating the impact of climate change in urban areas, as well as being a pleasant gathering place and inspiring us to think about the benefits of nature.
Measuring eight square metres (the size of a parking space), the installation comprises silhouettes of conifers, natural plants, a dynamo, a misting system and a public bench. A QR code linked to a mobile app provides explanations and scientific information on the benefits of its various elements: a place to sit, a cool haven, conifers, animal species and edible plants.
