Citizen Spring at the Jardin botanique

Espace pour la vie is offering, in cooperation with external organizations, four weekends of free activities at the Jardin botanique’s Frédéric Back Tree Pavilion, an inviting, dynamic and lively space for meetings and exchanges.

In April, reconnect with nature and take the opportunity to explore, create or exchange with others, while gearing up to take concrete action towards the socio-ecological transition and the protection of biopersity.

April 5 - Nature's Good for Me

Nature can bring us peace and help us recharge our batteries. Seize this day to enrich your relationship with the Earth through a myriad of activities to rediscover a symbiotic relationship with ecosystems that is mindful of nature.

Program

The animation team offers a continuous flow of guided tours of the arboretum and a series of fun activities for all ages in the Nature Hive.

10 am to noon - All-natural! Story Time for the Family

Get set for a fun-filled moment of relaxation as you discover books that put trees and nature in the spotlight! Join Pouce Carré’s animators, who will read amusing children’s stories and present fascinating documentaries that will help you better understand and appreciate the environment! A table full of reading suggestions for all ages will be set up. Youngsters, teens and adults alike will be able to find a reading suggestion that will pique their curiosity and nurture their love of reading.

10:30 to 11:30 am - Lending Your Car to Reduce Your Eco-anxiety?

One shared vehicle means 10 families breathe easier. It also means less expenses and more space. Discover how your car can become a tool for change in your neighbourhood. Hear from someone who dares to lend their car and discover the tools they use to make it happen. Can community car-sharing help people talk to each other and reduce their level of eco-anxiety?

11 am to noon - Introduction to Biophilia: Nature as a Source of Well-being

Slip into the world of biophilia and discover the biophile in you. This workshop will help you understand how and why human beings need to connect with nature to ensure their well-being, maximize their happiness and participate actively in life. An outdoor meditation session will follow.

1 to 5 pm - Territory on the Move

Ample Man Danse opens up its creative world in a choreographic space in the heart of nature! Come and move with your family in this one-of-a-kind activity led by professional artists, where everyone will create movements inspired by the environment.

  • Workshops start at 1 pm, 2:30 pm and 4 pm.

  • Up to 25 people per workshop

1:30 to 3 pm - A Walk Among the Trees

Love the trees at the Jardin botanique? Join a volunteer guide on a hike and learn more about the awesome features of this majestic urban forest! Put on your walking shoes and come spend some time in nature.

  • In French.
  • For all.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult.

2 to 4 pm - Organic Collage Workshop

Akira and Amarande, two passionate artists and facilitators, invite you to immerse yourself in a moment of free, intuitive creation. Through organic collage, explore the textures, colours and shapes of nature to breathe life into a work that reflects your personal bond with living things. All materials are provided so you can unleash your creativity in a friendly, caring atmosphere.

  • General public and families (accompanied children)

3:30 to 4:30 pm - Discover the Invisible: Interdependencies

We have special relationships with the living beings around us, and now’s the time to take notice! During this animation, come move around with us and discuss the links that connect us to each other and to our environment. Find out how interdependence is important for tomorrow's socio-ecological transition!
