The common walkingstick

This summer, come meet an impressive and little-known bug of Québec: the common walkingstick, a type of stick insect. Join the educational workshop A Wonderful Walkingstick and see this master of disguise up close.

Learn from the Insectarium’s team of science educators just how remarkable this discreet insect is! Take part in choosing a new name for it—something more poetic and worthy of its uniqueness.

Why take part?

  • Observe an insect so well camouflaged it looks like a twig
  • Learn the steps of a biological observation
  • Come up with an evocative new name for an insect
  • Awaken your love of insects and deepen your passion for Québec’s species

This fun, educational activity invites you to see the living world differently—with curiosity, wonder and a sense of connection to nature!
