SUMMARY:Silicon Photonics: An Enabling Technology for Multiplexed Bioanalys

DESCRIPTION:Silicon Photonics: An Enabling Technology for Multiplexed Bioan
 alysisRyan BaileyChemistry DepartmentUniversity of Michigan
\nAbstract: Th
e concept of personalized medicine is predicated on an ability to comprehe
nd a patient’s disease state in a highly informed manner that ideally il
luminates an effective treatment strategy. However\, in many cases new tec
hnologies are still needed to fully characterize dynamic molecular signatu
res of disease onset and progression. To this end\, our group is developin
g multiple technologies that aim to increase the depth of biomarker analys
is that can be performed in a clinical laboratory setting. One such techno
logy leverages well-established semiconductor fabrication methods to creat
e highly multiplexed and robust silicon photonic biosensor arrays that are
extremely sensitive and readily scalable to emerging challenges in point-
of-care clinical diagnostics. In this talk\, I will describe applications
of this technology for cancer and inflammatory-based diagnostics.
\nTo kno
w more about Prof. Bailey\, we can consult his group web page.
\nCette con
