SUMMARY:Molecular Engineering of Pi-Conjugated Systems for Organic Electron
 ics
DESCRIPTION:Titre complet : Molecular Engineering of Pi-Conjugated Systems
for Organic Electronics: New Donor-Acceptor Building Blocks for Tuning the
  Band Gap of Materials
\nCette conférence sera prononcée par le profe
sseur Pierre Frère de l'Université d'Angers.
\nHôte : Professeur Willi
 am Skene
\nRésumé: Thiophene based conjugated materials represent one of
the most widely investigated classes of functional pi-conjugated systems\
, motivated by their potential technological applications as organic semi-
conducting materials for the fabrication of (opto)electronic devices such
field-effect transistors (OFET)\, electroluminescent diodes (OLED) and pho
tovoltaic cells. Careful modifications on the conjugated backbone allow to
control the energy levels of the HOMO and LUMO frontier orbitals and thus
to tune the band gap and the electronic properties of the materials. Amon
g the different strategies for controlling the bandgap of the materials\,
the D/A approach consisting to insert both donor and acceptor blocks on th
e conjugated backbone has given rise polymers or oligomers presenting the
best performances in organic solar cells.
\nIn this context\, we have deve
loped new D/A building blocks in which the D and A groups are grafted on t
he 3 and 4 positions of a thiophene cycle. The development of new conjugat
ed materials with original properties has been pursued from these building
blocks. The different synthetic approaches and the relationship between t
he electronic properties and the molecular structures of these new materia
 ls will be presented.
\nInformation supplémentaireAffiche de la confére
