DESCRIPTION:Conférence du Dr Anand Teltumbde\nRésuméIn 1947 India becam
 e an independent country after centuries of British colonial rule. The con
 stitution of the post-colonial nation guaranteed equal rights to all.  Ho
 wever seven decades later many inequalities remain\, the most glaring and 
 entrenched being caste.  But this has not been without resistance by thos
 e most oppressed by caste -- Dalits and Other Backward Castes (OBCs).  Dr
 . Anand Teltumbde will speak to caste oppression and exploitation\, organi
 zing to resist and challenges\, in the context of a neoliberal\, class\, c
 ommunal and caste polarized India today.\nConférencierAnand Teltumbde is
  a professor of business management who is also a leading public intellect
 ual writing and speaking on the issues of caste\, class\, peoples’ strug
 gles\, public policy and democratic politics in India today. He has writte
 n extensively in leading newspapers\, and magazines\, published organizati
 onal pamphlets and booklets as an aid to struggling masses\, lectured wide
 ly in India and abroad\, and authored 20 books which have been translated 
 into many Indian languages. He is a regular contributor to the Economic an
 d Political Weekly and regularly contributes to Mainstream\, Frontier\, S
 eminar and several English and Marathi newspapers.   Born in a family of l
 andless laborers in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra\, he was active in stud
 ent politics. He has been involved in struggles of construction workers an
 d casual labour in West Bengal and in the struggles of textile workers\, 
  slum dwellers and contract labour in Mumbai. He is associated with the Co
 mmittee for Protection of Democratic Rights (CPDR) and with the All India 
 Forum for Rights to Education (AIFRTE).\nCette conférence sera donnée e
