Résumé : To meet the global energy and resource demand in a sustainable fashion, chemists need to develop catalytic reactions that use less energy and more renewable or readily available materials. To this end, we have investigated the reactivity of nickel and iron bis(phosphinite) pincer complexes, which are derived from inexpensive metals and easily synthesized ligands. Mechanistic studies have led to the discoveries of homogeneous catalysts for the reduction of aldehydes, ketones and CO2, the dehydrogenation of formic acid and ammonia borane, the isomerization of olefins, and cross-coupling reactions.
