DESCRIPTION:Titre : N\,O-Chelated Early Transition Metals in Catalysis. New
  Approaches for the Synthesis of Organic Small Molecules and Functional Ma
 terials.La conférence sera prononcée par Laurel Schafer\, professeure au
  Département de chimie de l'University of British Columbia et titulaire d
 e la Chaire de recherche du Canada en développement des catalyseurs. Elle
  sera donnée en anglais.Résumé : Amidate\, ureate and pyridonate ligand
 s are N\,O-chelates ideally suited for complexing hard metal centers\, suc
 h as Ti\, Zr and Ta. Importantly\, these hemi-labile ligands have been sho
 wn to promote unique reactivity in hydroamination\, hydroaminoalkylation a
 nd ring-opening polymerization. Recent advances in the development of more
  reactive and broadly applicable catalytic methods for selective amine and
  N-heterocycle synthesis will be presented. Extension of the application o
 f this family of complexes toward the synthesis of biodegradable co-polyme
 rs as new materials with potential applications in drug delivery will also
