SUMMARY:Life Stage Assessment of the Preterm Cardiovascular Phenotype and I
 nterventions for the Future &rsaq
DESCRIPTION:Conférence scientifique | Centre de recherche du CHU Sainte-Ju
 stine
\nTitre de la conférence :Life Stage Assessment of the Preterm Card
iovascular Phenotype and Interventions for the Future &rsaq
\nConférencie
 r : Adam Lewandowski\, PhD\, chargé de recherche universitaire\, Universi
 té d'Oxford.
\nRésumé :Preterm birth affects around 10% of births world
wide and has emerged as a novel risk factor for heart failure in childhood
and adolescence. We have identified a unique cardiac phenotype in young a
dults born preterm\, which appears to first emerge in early postnatal life
and may be altered by neonatal nutrition and preterm-related complication
 s. Our focus is now on better defining how the cardiac phenotype of preter
m-born individuals progresses during different developmental stages\, how
it relates to other known alterations in the cardiovascular phenotype\, an
d ways to reduce cardiovascular risk in this growing subgroup of the popul
 ation.
