 ediated cross-coupling will be followed by a focused discussion on the use
  of alkenes and alkynes in these processes.  Building on basic observatio
 ns regarding reactivity and selectivity\, a collection of complex converge
 nt annulation reactions will be described.  Finally\, the application of 
 these processes in natural product synthesis will be discussed.
