SUMMARY:Fe based superconductors
DESCRIPTION:Conférence présentée par Doug Bonn\, University of British C
 olumbia
\nAbstract:The discovery of high temperature superconductivity in
a family of iron-based compounds has generated a new wave of research into
unconventional superconductivity. As happened previously following the di
scovery of the cuprate superconductors\, much of the effort has focussed o
n determining whether or not this is a distinct\, new type of superconduct
ing state and what that might say about the superconducting mechanism. Thi
s talk will introduce the use of scanning tunnelling microscopy as a tool
for exploring the superconducting state of one member of the iron compound
s\, LiFeAs\, showing its use in measurements of superconducting gaps and d
efect-induced bound states. I will then introduce quasiparticle interferen
ce as a means to demonstrate that LiFeAs is an s+- superconductor\, a new
superconducting state driven by electronic interactions.
\nLe café est se
 rvi dès 11 h 30.
