SUMMARY:Single-nanowire spectroscopy as a probe of directional interactions
in organic semiconductor assemblies - Michael Barnes (UMass Amherst)
DESCRIPTION:Michael Barnes\, Chemistry Department\, University of Massachus
 etts Amherst
\n
\nAbstract:
\nResearch in our group is focused on experi
mental understanding of emergent properties in aggregated organic semicond
uctor assemblies with an ultimate goal of Borrowing from single-molecule s
pectroscopy approaches\, we use isolated crystalline nanowires as a “sup
er-molecule” platform where optical polarization (in both excitation and
emission) can be referenced to specific crystallographic axes.   In thi
s talk\, I will describe some recent work probing directional inter-chromo
phore coupling in organic nanowire assemblies via optical and conducting p
robe AFM techniques\, and how this work might impact OPV active layer desi
 gn rules.
\nProfessor Barnes is the external examiner of Elham Rezasoltani
  of Carlos Silva's group.
