  Minko du département de chimie et de sciences biomoléculaires de Clarks
 on University. Elle est commanditée par le Centre de recherche sur les ma
 teriaux auto-assemblés (CRMAA) et sera donnée en anglais.Résumé : Re
 sponse to external stimuli is one of the major processes by which living s
 ystems interact with their environment. Advances in nanotechnology provide
  a plethora of tools for designing ''smart'' responsive materials that mim
 ic processes found in living systems. These artificial biomimetic nanostru
 ctures are engineered to assemble dynamically into reconfigurable material
 s suitable for a variety of applications in medicine\, biotechnology\, coa
 tings\, cosmetics and personal care\, and miniaturized devices.        T
 he first part of the seminar will be an overview of recent results from ou
 r laboratory on the design\, synthesis\, characterization\, and applicatio
 ns of nanostructured polymeric and colloidal systems used for the fabricat
 ion of smart responsive surfaces\, membranes\, micro/nano-actuators\, coll
 oidal particles\, fibers\, and capsules. The second part will focus on the
  synthesis\, characterization and applications of tethered functional poly
 meric chains (polymer brushes)\, thin hydrogel films and capsules. We will
  discuss various architectures of polymer brushes and polymer gels develop
 ed in our laboratory and their use for the fabrication of functional nanos
 tructured thin films\, colloidal particles\, and membranes.  Information
