\nCosmic strings are topologically stable sol
 utions of the field
\nequations in a large class of particle physics model
 s beyond the
\n'Standard Model'. If Nature is described by such a model\, 
 then
\na network of cosmic strings inevitably forms in the early universe

 \nand survives to the present time. The gravitational effets
\nof these st
 rings lead to unique signatures in cosmological windows
\nsuch as CMB temp
 erature and polarization maps and 21cm redshift
\nsurveys. Loops of string
  may also play an important role in the formation of globular clusters and
  super-massive black holes.
