SUMMARY:Implementation science and population health intervention research:
Exploring intersections and the way forward
DESCRIPTION:Présenté en association avec l’École de santé publique d
 e l’Université de Montréal (ESPUM)
\n
\nResearch funding councils\,
such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research\, have made numerous in
vestments in implementation science and in population health intervention
research. There are some important areas of convergence in these two field
 s. The purpose of this presentation is to explore key points of intersecti
on and to consider how complementary work in these two fields could be fur
ther optimized. Several examples will be used to highlight intersection pa
rameters including drivers of inequities\, contextual influences on and in
teractions with interventions\, outcome assessment and scalability. Sugges
tions for an emergent research agenda will be proposed.
\n
\nConférenci
 ère invitée
\nNancy Edwards – Professor Edwards is a Distinguished Pro
fessor\, University of Ottawa\, and Full Professor in the School of Nursin
 g. She was appointed Scientific Director\, Institute of Population and Pub
lic Health\, Canadian Institutes of Health Research in July\, 2008 and Dir
ector of the Interdisciplinary Population Health PhD Program at the Univer
sity of Ottawa on July 1\, 2015. Dr. Edwards obtained her undergraduate nu
rsing degree from the University of Windsor and completed graduate studies
in epidemiology at McMaster University and McGill University. She is a fe
llow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and has been awarded two h
 onorary doctorate degrees.
