SUMMARY:Metabolic Disorders: their Rising Importance in the Age of Personal
 ized Medicine
DESCRIPTION:Congrès Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal (IRCM)R
ésuméSedentarity\, obesity and poor nutrition are increasingly prevalent
in our aging populations. As a consequence\, there is an ever-increasing
impact of metabolic disorders on the incidence\, presentation and course o
f chronic (primarily cardiovascular) disease. A better understanding of th
e impact of metabolic disorders\, of their genetic and environmental cause
s\, of their interactions with inflammatory mechanisms and of their sex-sp
ecific manifestations will allow us to improve the personalization of ther
apeutic applications in the future. The present mini-symposium will gather
18 highly proficient scientists from Canada\, France and the USA who study
these questions and propose innovative approaches to understand the mecha
nisms underlying these metabolic diseases and the most advanced clinical a
pplications of their findings. Furthermore\, we will select from submitted
abstracts the best 2 post-doctoral fellows and 2 graduate students for a
15-min oral presentation of their latest results allowing them to discuss
their findings and interact with experts in the field. We will also have a
total of 20 posters to enhance the participation of graduate students\, p
 ost-doctoral fellows and clinicians. Moreover\, this mini-symposium will g
reatly contribute to the education of future scientists\, favor exchange o
f innovative ideas and enhance new collaborations leading to the developme
nt of efficacious therapeutics in the field of cardiovascular diseases and
their associated pathologies.Comité organisateur : Nabil G. Seidah (UdeM
