SUMMARY:Spins and photons: toward quantum networks in diamond – Lilian Ch
 ildress\, McGill
DESCRIPTION:Lilian Childress\, Department of Physics\, McGill University\,
Montreal\, QC\, CanadaLong-lived electronic and nuclear spin states have
made nitrogen-vacancy (NV) defects in diamond a leading candidate for soli
d-state quantum information processing. Moreover\, their coherent optical
transitions open opportunities for quantum communication. This talk will c
onsider the motivation and requirements for optically-networked quantum de
vices\, and explore challenges and opportunities for realizing them in dia
mond.  In particular\, the resonant excitation and emission in these defe
ct centers enables single shot spin detection as well as observation of tw
o-photon quantum interference\; these two capabilities have enabled measu
rement-based entanglement between remote NV centers.Site web du groupe de
