SUMMARY:Conférence CRMAA avec le professeur Amar Flood (Indiana)
DESCRIPTION:Titre : Recognizing and Manipulating Anions.Cette conférence
sera prononcée par le professeur Amar Flood du département de chimie de
l'Indiana University. Elle est commanditée par le Centre de recherche sur
les materiaux auto-assemblés (CRMAA) et sera donnée en anglais.Résum
é : Anions are present in many chemical and biological processes motivat
ing studies on their recognition and manipulation. To these ends\, we empl
oy easy-to-make triazole receptors that form unexpectedly strong CH hydrog
en bonds. Foldamers are a class of receptor we have put to use in the phot
odriven catch-and-release of Cl– ions in organic solvents. Towards more
competitive aqueous media\, the protein-like structures of foldamers enabl
ed unprecedented extraction of Cl– by taking advantage of hydrophobic co
llapse and anion-induced organization. We have extended the use of anionic
stimuli to graphite surfaces to drive phase transitions between 2D crysta
ls of aryl-triazole adsrobates. Finally\, new studies aimed at generalizin
g CH hydrogen bonding in receptors will also be presented.Information supp
