 umé : To meet the global energy and resource demand in a sustainable fash
 ion\, chemists need to develop catalytic reactions that use less energy an
 d more renewable or readily available materials. To this end\, we have inv
 estigated the reactivity of nickel and iron bis(phosphinite) pincer comple
 xes\, which are derived from inexpensive metals and easily synthesized lig
 ands. Mechanistic studies have led to the discoveries of homogeneous catal
 ysts for the reduction of aldehydes\, ketones and CO2\, the dehydrogenatio
 n of formic acid and ammonia borane\, the isomerization of olefins\, and c
