SUMMARY:Conférence CRMAA avec le professeur Ian Manners (Bristol)
DESCRIPTION:Titre : Functional Nanomaterials via Crystallization-Driven Liv
ing Self-Assembly.
as evolved to a relatively advanced state\, the ability to prepare well-de
fined self-assembled materials of controlled shape\, size\, and structural
hierarchy is still in its relative infancy and currently remains the virt
ually exclusive domain of biology. In this talk the development of a promi
sing new route to such materials\, termed crystallization-driven living se
lf-assembly\, will be described. This approach was discovered as a result
of an investigation of the solution self-assembly behavior of block copoly
mers with crystalline polyferrocenylsilane metalloblocks. It offers an int
eresting and potentially powerful new route to well-defined micelles and h
ierarchical materials with controlled dimensions and a variety of potentia
l applications and appears to be extendable to a wide range of different c
 rystalline core-forming blocks\, including biorelevant and pi-conjugated m
 aterials. Information supplémentaire
