Maya Cousineau Mollen. Je n’ai que le ciel

The Biosphère presents Je n'ai que le ciel : une installation à vol d'oiseau. This poetic, text-based work is by the Innu poet Maya Cousineau Mollen. The exhibition offers a bird’s-eye perspective where poetry and Indigenous voices come together in a vibrant dialogue on the environment.

Created during a residency at the Biosphère led by Maya Cousineau Mollen, the visual installation is also accompanied by a poetry booklet.

Through the voices of Sylvestre Desterres, Rita Mestokosho and Maya herself, the work expresses a diversity of viewpoints from citizens, artists and scientists. This broad approach strives for a deeper understanding of environmental issues as it weaves a poetic landscape of images, conversations and silences. The many voices offer a glimmer of hope, of a future in which compassion and clarity shape how we live.

Rethinking our relationship with the living world through poetry

Throughout her residency, Maya Cousineau Mollen drew inspiration from the living world around the Biosphère, following the rhythm of the seasons in Parc Jean-Drapeau. In her work, she explores the memory of the land, decolonization and protection of the living world. The exhibition Je n’ai que le ciel : une installation à vol d'oiseau is a powerful work that communicates brilliantly on both the personal and collective levels.

Presented in the panoramic hall, the installation offers a unique view over Île Sainte-Hélène and the St. Lawrence River.
