 Michèle Thériault * Cette exposition\, conçue en étroite collaboration
  avec l’artiste\, est la première à tracer un chemin dans la pratique 
 de Beck\, ces dix dernières années. Elle rassemble des œuvres qui explo
 rent les approches et les règles de mise en forme\, de présentation\, de
  communication et d’organisation sociale. La question qui est posée est
  celle de leur historicité et du jeu de références qui opère de leur d
 ialogue tandis qu’ils cohabitent dans l’espace de l’exposition et da
 ns cette galerie\, qui elle-même tient un rôle actif véhicule de commun
 ication. L’œuvre récente de Martin Beck se penche sur les utopies éma
 ncipatoires\, notamment sur la façon dont elles émergeaient dans le desi
 gn d’après-guerre\, l’histoire des expositions\, l’architecture et 
 les formations sociales. Leur croyance en des programmes émancipatoires c
 ombinée à un désir de particularisation et de logique contrôlante inte
 ragissent dans le travail de Beck et dans les modes et les formes qu’il 
 choisit pour les présenter au public.This exhibition\, conceived in close
  collaboration with the artist\, is the first to trace a path through Beck
 ’s practice over the last ten years\, brings together works that investi
 gate approaches and rules to form making\, display\, communication\, and s
 ocial organization. At play is the question of their historicity and refer
 ence as they coexist in the space of the exhibition and this gallery\, whi
 ch itself becomes an active participant in its role as a medium of communi
 cation. In recent years Martin Beck has worked on emancipatory utopias\, p
 articularly as they took shape in post-war design and exhibition history\,
  architecture\, and social formations. Utopias’ belief in emancipatory p
 rograms interwoven with a drive for particularization and controlling logi
