DESCRIPTION:« SCULPTURES » Julie Tremblay pratique la sculpture\, l’ins
 tallation et la performance depuis plus de 15 ans. Sa démarche artistique
  s’appuie sur le grand thème du corps dont elle évoque le mouvement\, 
 la symbolique et la poésie au moyen de matériaux non-traditionnels. L’
 esthétique anthropomorphique et biomorphique occupe une place prépondér
 ante dans son oeuvre\, dont le récent corpus fait à nouveau écho.Trembl
 ay multiplie les propositions tridimensionnelles à partir de matériaux i
 ndustriels exploités en strates et méticuleusement modelés. Le plaquage
  or\, cuivre ou argent utilisé en marge ou sur la totalité des pièces s
 emble à première vue une opération de séduction : or\, cette étape s
 ’avère cruciale dans le processus de création qui repose sur une diale
 ctique entre le pur et l’impur\, le profane et le sacré\, la perte et l
 e profit\, etc. L’artiste réfléchit au concept de valeur accordée aux
  œuvres d’art en faisant basculer les codes de hiérarchisation matéri
 elle. Tremblay s’applique en quelque sorte à démontrer le leurre vingt
 iémiste du mot « valeur » par le truchement (et le travestissement) des
  matériaux.Julie Tremblay has been a sculptor and installation and perfor
 mance artist for over 15 years. Her art essentially focuses on the human b
 ody\, evoking its movement\, symbolism\, and poetry through the use of non
 -traditional materials. Anthropomorphic and biomorphic esthetics play a ce
 ntral role in her work\, as reflected in her recent corpus.Tremblay's piec
 es are invariably three-dimensional\, and are crafted using meticulously m
 odeled and layered industrial materials. While her use of gold\, copper\, 
 or silver plating on parts or all of her pieces may\, at first glance\, st
 rike the viewer as an artifice\, it is actually a crucial step in the crea
 tive process\, which is founded on a dialectic between the pure and the im
 pure\, the profane and the sacred\, loss and profit\, and other dimensions
 . The artist explores the concept of the value attributed to works of art 
 by turning the conventional codes of material hierarchization on their hea
 ds. In her own way\, Tremblay deconstructs the 21st century lure of the wo
