Résumé
Sedentarity, obesity and poor nutrition are increasingly prevalent in our aging populations. As a consequence, there is an ever-increasing impact of metabolic disorders on the incidence, presentation and course of chronic (primarily cardiovascular) disease. A better understanding of the impact of metabolic disorders, of their genetic and environmental causes, of their interactions with inflammatory mechanisms and of their sex-specific manifestations will allow us to improve the personalization of therapeutic applications in the future.

The present mini-symposium will gather 18 highly proficient scientists from Canada, France and the USA who study these questions and propose innovative approaches to understand the mechanisms underlying these metabolic diseases and the most advanced clinical applications of their findings. Furthermore, we will select from submitted abstracts the best 2 post-doctoral fellows and 2 graduate students for a 15-min oral presentation of their latest results allowing them to discuss their findings and interact with experts in the field. We will also have a total of 20 posters to enhance the participation of graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and clinicians. Moreover, this mini-symposium will greatly contribute to the education of future scientists, favor exchange of innovative ideas and enhance new collaborations leading to the development of efficacious therapeutics in the field of cardiovascular diseases and their associated pathologies.
